BetMGM Commits To 2nd Year Of Responsible Gaming Messaging In NFL Stadiums

When the NFL season kicks off at Arrowhead Stadium Thursday, fans can expect to see responsible gaming ads in-stadium for a second year.

As the NFL season opener approaches, a major player in the sports betting industry is stepping up efforts to advocate for responsible gambling at NFL stadiums.

In anticipation of the Thursday night game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs, BetMGM announced a new partnership with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to support Responsible Gaming Education Month this September.

Rhea Loney, BetMGM’s chief compliance officer, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, «We’re thrilled to once again bring responsible gaming efforts directly to NFL fans this season. We’re setting a new benchmark for safety and awareness in our industry. At BetMGM, we are committed to safeguarding our players and encouraging responsible gaming as crucial for the future of sports betting.»

This announcement follows the NFL’s recent updates to its internal gambling policy, which now includes mandatory in-person training for players.

Under the new partnership, BetMGM and the AGA will feature responsible gambling ads in nine NFL stadiums, including Arrowhead Stadium for the season opener. This initiative marks the second year of the program.

The program aims to promote «positive, transparent, and proactive interactions with guests and customers on responsible gambling practices,» highlighting MGM Resorts’ GameSense responsible gaming initiative.

Stephen Martino, SVP and chief compliance officer of MGM Resorts, emphasized the significance of funding research on responsible gaming: “It’s crucial to support research into the diverse impacts of gambling on various populations, especially those at higher risk of developing problematic behaviors.”

Additionally, BetMGM plans to produce more commercials in the coming months featuring brand ambassadors, similar to their existing responsible gaming campaign with NHL star Connor McDavid.

BetMGM To Contribute To Research

In alignment with its responsible gaming efforts, MGM Resorts will contribute $500,000 to fund research through the International Center for Responsible Gaming and Kingbridge Research Institute. The research will focus on underserved and underfunded communities affected by problem gambling, including women and military veterans.

Joe Malone, SVP of strategic communications at the AGA, highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying, “Partnerships are key to advancing our collective responsibility efforts. MGM Resorts and BetMGM are leading the way with innovative collaborations that significantly advance responsible gaming.”
